We are now looking to expand our academic team by hiring Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) with a strong grasp of curriculum standards and modern pedagogy.

Position Overview:

We are hiring a Content Faculty (SME) for Classes 6 to 8 across Science, Mathematics, and English subjects. As a member of our R&D and academic content team, you will design and deliver high-quality, curriculum-aligned educational content. Your materials will serve as a cornerstone for thousands of learners preparing for school exams and Olympiads such as NSO, IMO, and IEO.

This role is ideal for educators passionate about content design, curriculum development, and making foundational learning engaging, effective, and accessible. You’ll work closely with academic planners, reviewers, and digital content producers to create structured, compelling learning materials for both online and print use.

Key Responsibilities:

Content Creation & Curriculum Design

  • Develop well-structured chapter-wise theory notes with diagrams, charts, and examples.
  • Create concept explanations that simplify complex topics, ensuring alignment with CBSE/ICSE/NCERT standards.
  • Prepare practice worksheets that include various types of questions (fill in the blanks, MCQs, short answers, long answers).
  • Design questions for Olympiad preparation including NSO (National Science Olympiad), IMO (International Mathematics Olympiad), and IEO (International English Olympiad).
  • Curate higher-order thinking questions and real-life application-based problems.

Assessment Development

  • Create a question bank with MCQs, assertion-reason questions, true/false, and HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) problems.
  • Align assessment materials with Bloom’s Taxonomy and Olympiad standards.

Editing & Quality Control

  • Proofread content meticulously to ensure accuracy in data, language, and formatting.
  • Collaborate with academic heads to revise and enhance drafted materials.
  • Maintain consistency in tone, difficulty level, and formatting across modules.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Participate in content review meetings, brainstorming sessions, and curriculum development planning.
  • Coordinate with video production teams to ensure content clarity and engagement in audiovisual formats.
  • Provide academic feedback to animators, editors, and UI/UX teams for digital course integration.

Research & Continuous Improvement

  • Stay up-to-date with changes in curriculum frameworks, question formats, and exam patterns.
  • Analyze student performance data to fine-tune content strategy.
  • Attend internal workshops and training to upgrade content delivery techniques.

Project Management

  • Meet weekly deadlines for content delivery.
  • Maintain organized records of modules, review comments, and edits.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet quality and compliance benchmarks.

Skills and Qualifications:

Mandatory:

  • Strong subject knowledge and familiarity with school-level and Olympiad syllabi.
  • Excellent written communication and proofreading skills.
  • Familiarity with digital education tools and content management systems.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with EdTech platforms.
  • Exposure to CBSE/ICSE/NCERT frameworks.
  • Knowledge of Bloom’s Taxonomy and educational psychology principles.

What We Offer:

  • A fast-paced and impact-driven work environment.
  • Opportunity to contribute to India’s most trusted EdTech platform.
  • Remote working flexibility.
  • Competitive compensation.
  • Access to PW’s exclusive training and upskilling programs.

Sample Interview Questions and Suggested Answers

1. What makes you suitable for the SME role at PhysicsWallah?

Answer: My teaching background, combined with hands-on experience in content development for Classes 6–8, equips me with both the academic and instructional skills necessary. I am well-versed in CBSE and Olympiad syllabi and have created question banks and worksheets that have improved learning outcomes for my students.

2. How do you ensure content is age-appropriate for Classes 6 to 8?

Answer: I use Bloom’s Taxonomy to adjust the cognitive demand of tasks and regularly test content readability using readability indexes. I also ensure that the content incorporates relatable examples and visuals that align with the cognitive and emotional development of that age group.

3. Have you created Olympiad-level questions before?

Answer: Yes, I’ve designed practice sets aligned with NSO and IMO formats. I ensure the questions challenge students’ logical reasoning and conceptual clarity rather than rote memorization.

4. Describe your process for developing a chapter-wise worksheet.

Answer: I begin by reviewing the learning outcomes for the chapter. I then develop a variety of question types—MCQs, SAQs, LAQs, and HOTS—ensuring they cover all major concepts. The worksheet is structured from basic to advanced levels to gradually increase the student’s confidence.

5. How do you handle feedback or revisions in your content?

Answer: I see feedback as an opportunity to refine and improve the quality of my work. I keep a changelog and incorporate reviewer suggestions while ensuring academic rigor is maintained.

6. How do you stay updated with curriculum changes?

Answer: I regularly monitor official curriculum updates from CBSE and ICSE boards, follow NCERT notifications, and participate in teacher forums and webinars.

7. How do you make abstract concepts easier for students to understand?

Answer: I use analogies, visuals, and real-life examples. For instance, to explain atoms, I might compare them to LEGO blocks—small units that combine to form larger structures.

8. What tools or software are you comfortable with for content creation?

Answer: I use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Docs, Canva, and LMS platforms. I also have experience with content management systems like Moodle and internal EdTech tools.

9. Describe a time when your content improved student performance.

Answer: I developed a customized worksheet series for a Grade 7 math class focused on fractions and decimals. After two months of targeted practice, the class average improved by 18% in internal assessments.

10. Why do you want to work with PhysicsWallah?

Answer: PW’s mission to democratize education resonates with my own values as an educator. The opportunity to contribute at scale through quality content creation for school students is deeply motivating for me.
